This paper examines the role of images in historical illumination. Specifically, it focuses on art as an instrument of communication, drawing and pictures as rich historical sources indispensable to the African historian. Using examples from Opobo, it shows how these sources illuminate Opobo History, noting that images are one inter-disciplinary source that enables a better explaination of historical developments. It also posits that teachers would impact knowledge better and students participation promoted. Sophia: An African Journal of Philosophy Vol. 8(1) 2005:80-84 Keywords: Keywords
