Perennial poor performance recorded annually in both internal and external examinations in Mathematics has been a great concern for the Mathematics Educators in Nigeria. This paper discusses problem-solving and influence of problem-solving strategies on students’ performance in mathematics. The concept of problem- solving was explained. The uniqueness of problemsolving and its relevance to everyday activities were discussed. Further, it explained the impacts of problem-solving strategies on students’ performance in mathematics. The importance of problem-solving and various steps involved were also enumerated.
