This was a correlational design study that explored the relationship between pupils’ psychosocial variables such as self-esteem, hearing status, attitude towards teachers and school; and between these and academic performance. A total of 194 pupils, 110 hearing normally and 84 hearing impaired were compared in self-esteem and academic performance. While there was no significant relationship between hearing status and academic performance, there was a significant difference in self-esteem with hearing status and a significant relationship between self-esteem and academic performance.
