School library services: A necessity

The research paper focused on the school library services as a necessity to all primary and secondary schools. The study discussed the concept and significance of school libraries in the community, it also explained the reading habits of school children as they utilize the library and the adoption of Information and Communication Technology (ICT) in school libraries. The study identified some services and types of information resources provided by the school libraries. It concluded that libraries need to be properly equipped to provide effective library services that will satisfy the pupils and teachers. Recommendations were also provided such as: adequate provision of funds, current information resources, employment of qualified and trained teacher-librarians among others.Keywords: Library, Services, School, Primary, Secondar
