Use of internet library based services by the students of Imo State University, Owerri – Nigeria

This study investigated the use of internet library based services by the students of Imo State University, Owerri – Nigeria. Survey research design method was used to conduct the study. The population of the study comprises 72 students and all purposively used to conduct the study. Questionnaire was used as the main instrument for data collection. Descriptive statistics was used to answer research questions while t-Test was used to test the hypotheses. Findings show that students utilizes internet based library services in their academic work, for their intellectual development as well as in communicating to their lecturers and other relations on their day to day information needs. It is recommended that University libraries should provide and offer internet based library services to the students and members of the university community in general. This will encourage research development as well as enhance quick and reliable information service delivery. It is recommended that students should be trained on the use internet as this will help them develop interest on the use of internet for sourcing information.Key Words: Use, Internet, Library, Services, Students, Universit
