In the Nineties excavations made in La Rochelle (France) have produced objects of archaeometallurgical evidence with regards to the second royal mint. For the time being, this workshop is still the only one that has been discovered in France. Moreover, the observations of the artefacts seem to allow the reading of the whole money making process. These archaeological samples, complemented with ceramics from the medieval mint of Montreuil-Bonnin (France), have been studied by an archaeometric approach to propose an original research on the official French hammer striking process.
