This paper reviews the management of open fracture. The challenges of management are highlighted. The imperatives of optimum treatment which involves appropriate initial assessment and resuscitation; administration of broad spectrum antibiotics, anti-tetanus prophylaxis and analgesics. Followed by specific evaluations, urgent operative debridement and skeletal stabilization. Early soft tissue coverage, delayed bone graft and rehabilitation are discussed.Key Words: Open fractures, management
