A review of foreign bodies impacted in the oesophagus at the ENT units of the University of Port Harcourt Teaching Hospital and Benok Consultants Clinic both in Port Harcourt, Nigeria between January, 1992 and December, 1999 was done. Fifty-three cases were seen with a M:F ratio of 1.5:1 and an average age of 15.6 years were the commonest accounting for 54.7% of cases and are confined to children.
