This is a hospital based retrospective review of patients diagnosed to have pterygium at the Olabisi Onabanjo University Teaching Hospital in Sagamu, Ogun State, Nigeria between January 2006 and December 2009. Data was obtained from the case files of patients. The age, sex, place of abode, occupation, level of education, pattern of presentation and type of treatment offered were recorded and analyzed. Two hundred and thirty-three patients were diagnosed to have pterygium within the 3 years study period but only 178 case notes were retrieved.
