Nowadays, ultrasonography is extensively used in imaging in the developing countries as well as in the industrialized countries. This exam permits the exploration of the organs in practically all medicalspecialties. After twenty years of practice in the Teaching Hospital of Lome Tokoin, we undertook this work in the goal to value the impact of the ultrasonography in the daily diagnostic gait in our hospital.Objectives: To study the applications of ultrsound exploration; To describe the lesions observed; To show the contribution of ultrasonography in the handling of the patients. Material and method: It was a retrospective survey based on the reports of 2960 ultrasound acts collected in the service of radiology .from january 1998 to december 2000.RESULTS: Our sample was composed of 71.15% of women and 28.85% of men. The ultrasound act concerned all age groups with a strength raised in the slice of 20 to 29 years. The pelvic and abdominal explorations were the most realized exams. The fibromyoma of the uterus (235 cases / 41.96%) represented the most pathology at the pelvic ultrasound whereas hepatomegalitis (127 cases / 23.96%) was in head in the abdominal ultrasound.Conclusion: Ultrasonography occupies a fundamental role in the diagnostic gait in our daily practice in the Teaching hospital of Lome Tokoin. De nos jours, l’échographie est une technique d’imagerie largement utilisée aussi bien dans les pays en développement que dans les pays industrialisés. Cet examen permet l’exploration des organes danspratiquement toutes les spécialités médicales. Après vingt ans de pratique au CHU Tokoin de Lomé, nous avons entrepris cette étude dans le but d’évaluer l’impact de l’échographie dans la démarche diagnostique quotidienne dans notre hôpital.Objectifs : Etudier les demandes d’exploration échographique ; Répertorier les pathologies observées ; Montrer l’apport de l’échographie dans la prise en charge des patients.Matériel et méthode : Il s’est agi d’une étude rétrospective analytique qui a porté sur les comptes rendus des résultats de 2960 actes échographiques colligés dans le service de radiologie du CHU-Tokoin de Lomé de janvier 1998 en décembre 2000.Résultats : Notre échantillon était composé de 71,15% de femmes et de 28,85% d’hommes. L’acte échographique a concerné toutes les tranches d’âge avec un effectif élevé dans la tranche de 20 à 29 ans.Les explorations pelviennes et abdominales ont été les examens les plus réalisés. Le fibromyome de l’utérus (235 cas soit 41,96%) a représenté la pathologie dominante à l’échographie pelvienne alors que1’hépatomégalie (127 cas soit 23,96%) avait prédominé à 1’échographie abdominale.Conclusion : La pratique de l’échographie joue un rôle capital dans la démarche diagnostique dans notre vécu quotidien au CHU Tokoin de Lom
