Turnera ulmifolia Linn. has been traditionally used for the treatment of various ailments such as rheumatism, vertigo, dysmenorrhea and dysentery. Microscopically, leaf of T. ulmifolia showed the presence of abundant stellate non-glandular trichomes, anisocytic stomata and large number of calcium oxalate crystals along the veins. Lignified spiral vessels, pericyclic fibres, and starch grains were observed in powdered aerial parts of T. ulmifolia. Total ash of the aerial parts of T. ulmifolia was about 3 and 6 times more than acid insoluble and water soluble ash respectively.
