What motivates students to develop startup intentions during their studies? From a political point of view, students’ startup intentions are a very relevant topic. The aim of this article is to investigate the influence of social, cultural and economic conditions on the founding intentions of students. As a theoretical foundation, the theory of planned behaviour is taken as a basis. Based on data from the Global Entrepreneurship Monitor (GEM) for the years 2014 - 2016 and the cultural dimensions according to Hofstede, influencing factors are analysed and compared in a country comparison with four states.
