The diagnosis of carbon monoxide poisoning is challenging as much of the information is based on a history of present illness in order to suspect it. Carbon monoxide is a tasteless, odorless, and colorless gas that has earned the name of the “silent killer.” It affects approximately 50,000 people in the United States each year. Patients often do not know that they are being exposed to CO gas, so it is important to ask pertinent questions when taking a patient’s history. Treatment consists of oxygen therapy. If a diagnosis is not made promptly and treatment is not administered, some complications may occur
