Florística e aspectos ecológicos de licófitas e samambaias do litoral médio do Rio Grande do Sul, Brasil

We performed a floristic survey and an ecological characterization of the lycophytes and ferns from the municipalities of Cidreira, Balneário Pinhal and Palmares do Sul, midcoast of Rio Grande do Sul state, Brazil. The following aspects were assessed for the species: preferential substrate, life-forms, and occurrence in aquatic formations, wetlands, grasslands, ruderal formations, and swamp and dune forests. We found three lycophytes and 62 ferns. The Polypodiaceae had the highest species richness (15 ssp.), followed by the Pteridaceae (9 ssp.) and the Blechnaceae (9 ssp.). The environments with the highest species richness were ruderal and forest formations. The preferred substrate was terrestrial and the predominant life-forms were rosette and creeping hemicryptophytes. The results suggest a high species diversity in this portion of Rio Grande do Sul coast, yet lower than in other forest formations such as the Araucaria Forest or Dense Ombrophilous Forest. The high level of environmental disturbance and the degree of threat to species could be evidenced by the record of four endangered species in a regional scale.Foi realizado o levantamento florístico e caracterização ecológica das licófitas e samambaias dos municípios de Cidreira, Balneário Pinhal e Palmares do Sul no litoral médio do Rio Grande do Sul. Avaliaram-se os seguintes aspectos para as espécies: substrato preferencial, forma de vida e ocorrência em formações aquáticas, banhados, campestres, matas paludosas, matas arenosas e formações ruderais. Foram encontradas três licófitas e 62 samambaias. Polypodiaceae apresentou a maior riqueza de espécies (15 ssp.), seguida de Pteridaceae (9 ssp.) e Blechnaceae (9 ssp.). Os ambientes com maior riqueza foram os antropizados e ambientes florestais. O substrato preferencial foi o terrícola, e a forma de vida predominante foram as hemicriptófitas rosuladas e reptantes. Os dados sugerem uma alta riqueza específica para esta porção do litoral do RS, porém, menor que outras formações florestais como a Floresta Ombrófila Mista ou Densa. A alta perturbação ambiental e o grau de ameaça às espécies foram evidenciados pelo registro de quatro espécies ameaçadas de extinção em escala regional
