Fotoinibição da Fotossíntese

The life in the earth depends on the derived energy of the sun. The photosynthesis is the only process of biological importance that can pick this energy. The term “photosynthesis” means “synthesis that uses light” literally. The photosynthetic organisms use solar energy to synthesize organic combinations that cannot be formed without the contribution of energy. Energy stored in these molecules can be used later as source of energy to cellular processes in the plant and it can serve as resource of energy for all the life forms. It is, therefore surprising that the light can also be harmful for the photosynthesis. Evidences that the light excess can affect the vegetable growth exist and lead to the reduction of the productivity. Now that stress condition is known as photo inhibition and defined as a complex group of molecular processes that promote the photosynthesis inhibition through the light excess. The objective of this review is to emphasize the importance of the photo inhibition, their implications in the photosynthetic processes and when and where the photo damage happens, as well as the importance of the climatic factors in this process. O termo “fotossíntese” significa “síntese que usa luz”, literalmente. Organismos fotossintéticos usam energia solar para sintetizar combinações orgânicas que não podem ser formadas sem a contribuição de energia. Energia armazenada nestas moléculas pode ser usada depois como fonte de energia para processos celulares na planta e pode servir como recurso de energia para todas as formas de vida. É, portanto, surpreendente que a luz possa ser também prejudicial para a fotossíntese. Existem evidências que o excesso de luz pode afetar o crescimento vegetal e levar à redução da produtividade. Atualmente, essa condição de estresse é conhecida como fotoinibição e definida como um complexo conjunto de processos moleculares que promovem a inibição de fotossíntese através do excesso de luz. O objetivo desta revisão é ressaltar a importância da fotoinibição, suas implicações nos processos fotossintéticos, como e onde ocorre o fotodano, bem como a importância dos fatores climáticos neste processo
