Fitofisionomia das formações vegetais da Restinga da Área de Proteção Ambiental (APA) de Guaibim, Valença, Bahia, Brasil

The occurrence and distribution of the vegetation types of the Environmental Protection Area (APA) of Guaibim were assessed from field visits and satellite images. Were recognized eight vegetation formations whose distribution and amplitude are influenced by the proximity of the sea, wind direction, topography and level of water table. The vegetation types recognized are similar to other areas of “restinga” of Brazil, however, the occurrence of open schrub vegetation non-flood near the beach related to the dense ticket vegetation type (“pós-praia”), showing the restrictions on current nomenclature used to characterize the formations plants this ecosystem. Several antropic impacts were observed which may compromise the conservation of remnant vegetation of this ecosystem before it is minimally known. In addition, the occurrence of endangered species Scaevola plumieri (L.) Vahl (Goodeniaceae) suggests that this region may harbor other endangered or rare species, relictual in the fragments of the surrounding rainforest.As restingas da Bahia são pouco conhecidas quanto a sua fisionomia, composição florística e estrutura. A ocorrência e a distribuição das diversas formações vegetais da restinga da Área de Proteção Ambiental (APA) de Guaibim foram avaliadas a partir de visitas ao campo e imagens de satélite. Foram reconhecidas oito formações vegetacionais cuja distribuição e amplitude são influenciadas pela proximidade do mar, direção dos ventos, relevo e afloramento do lençol freático. As fitofisionomias reconhecidas se assemelham a outras áreas de restinga do Brasil, no entanto, a ocorrência da Formação Arbustiva Aberta não-Inundável próxima à praia aproxima essa comunidade da formação pós-praia, e ressalta as restrições às nomenclaturas atualmente usadas para a caracterização das formações vegetais deste ecossistema. Diversos impactos antrópicos foram verificados, o que pode comprometer a conservação da vegetação remanescente deste ecossistema antes que ele seja minimamente conhecido. Além disso, a ocorrência da espécie ameaçada Scaevola plumieri (L.) Vahl (Goodeniaceae) sugere que essa região possa abrigar outras espécies ameaçadas ou raras, relictuais dos fragmentos de mata atlântica circunvizinhos
