Análise hematológica de macacos-prego (Sapajus libidinosus Spix, 1923) e bugios (Alouatta caraya Humboldt, 1812) de vida livre no sul do estado de Tocantins, Brasil

In order to determine the hematological values and compare possible sex-related differences in healthy, adult free-ranging black-striped capuchin (Sapajus libidinosus) and howler (Alouatta caraya) monkeys, blood samples were collected from 15 capuchins (5 males and 10 females) and 47 black howler monkeys (28 males and 19 females). All monkeys were captured during a fauna rescue from a hydroelectric plant in southern Tocantins state, Brazil. Nine hematological profile variables were assessed, and the results were compared between groups and sexes using ANOVA and MANOVA, with a significance level of p ≤ 0.05. No significant difference was found in the hematological values of neither sex of S. libidinosus. However, in A. caraya, the RDW (♂14.37%; ♀13.53%) and number of platelets (♂186× 103/mm3; ♀153× 103/mm3) were significantly higher in males. Furthermore, the mean values of the hematological variables in both species were overall similar to those reported to captive animals.Com o objetivo de estabelecer os valores hematológicos e comparar possíveis diferenças relacionadas ao sexo de macacos-prego (Sapajus libidinosus) e bugios (Alouatta caraya) adultos, sadios e de vida livre, foram colhidas amostras de sangue de 15 macacos-prego (5 machos e 10 fêmeas) e 47 bugios pretos (28 machos e 19 fêmeas), todos capturados durante o resgate da fauna de uma usina hidrelétrica no sul de Tocantins, Brasil Central. Foram avaliadas nove variáveis de perfil hematológico e os resultados entre os grupos e sexo comparados pelos testes ANOVA e MANOVA, considerando valores significativos para p ≤ 0.05. Não foram encontradas diferenças significativas nos valores hematológicos para ambos os sexos de S. libidinosus, entretanto, para a espécie A. caraya os resultados de RDW (♂14,37; ♀13,53%) e plaquetas (♂186; ♀153x 103/mm3) foram significativamente maiores em machos. Além disso, as médias das variáveis hematológicas analisadas de ambas as espécies, se apresentaram em geral, semelhantes as relatadas em animais de cativeiro
