Our study deals with a design of suitable test rig, which can help in determining the load bearing capacity, pressure distribution of a journal bearing. Present project work is about designing a test rig, which can be further utilized to check on the behavior of different materials as may be proposed in the design of journal bearing. Therefore the study involves theoretical aspects on the working principle of a journal bearing, numerical calculation and finally a 3D model of the test rig. The sole purpose of designing a test rig is to make it an economical design and yet fulfilling its purpose for conducting experiments.
