Árpád Feszty’s famous panoramic painting “The Arrival of the Hungarians” depicts in a romantic view a moment of the Hungarian conquest of the Carpathian Basin. The results of Feszty’s historical research reflect contemporary scientific views on Hungarian conquest and can be detected on the figurái representation of the panoramic painting. This study presents certain elements of the events depicted on the painting which, in the present state of scientific knowledge, can be interpreted differently than in the 19th century. Thus, questions in relation with the figurái representation will be under scrutiny such as the members of the leading group, the painted battle scene and other special issues.
