Collaborating through a Federal Highway Administration (FHWA) pooled fund study, the state departments of transportation in California, Arizona, New Mexico, and Texas (the I-10 Corridor Coalition) produced a planning framework for a connected freight corridor. The planning framework serves two purposes: It describes the major strategies to improve freight operations within the identified I-10 corridor, developed in response to stakeholder input and industry assessments. It explains functions and relationships required for the effective implementation of technologies and systems associated with the five chosen strategies: truck parking availability systems, freight traveler information systems, freight technology environment, roadside safety communication, and oversize-overweight permit standardization.120
