The article presents the most important undertakings from the years 2012-2016, the aim of which was to strengthen social activity of elderly people and improve their quality of life. The author raises the following issues: senior policy assumptions, the concept of the Government Programme for Senior Citizens Social Activity, the importance of the Universities of the Third Age, the creation of the Department of Senior Policy, the establishment of the Council for Senior Policy, as well as legal regulations enabling the creation of senior citizens’ councils.
