This article focuses on the issue of motivation, which from a teacher’s point of view belongs to the psychological field of study. Nowadays the world gives us much more possibilities than ever before. Despite this fact, the main motivational factor in Polish schools are still grades, which are the tools of extrinsic motivation. It is worth considering whether extrinsic motivation, which boils down to the reward and punishment system, is able to help learners to find energy, courage and strength to respond the different challenges and make their dreams come true.
