[EN] Vaults, built either with lime-based concrete poured on a formwork or with thin tiles laid flat, constitute a characteristic element of Valencian architecture, both representative and vernacular. Lime-based oncrete vaults are documented from the beginning of the Middle Ages, with important examples of massive vaults built in the Islamic towers (11th-13th centuries) of the province of Valencia. The flat-tile vault, either used as a formwork or as an autonomous constructive element, also starts in medieval times, especially since the 14th century.
