The growth of magnetic fluctuations in the inertial range of turbulence is investigated in terms of fluid particle dynamics. The existence of dynamo effect is related to the time behaviour of the correlations between tangent vectors evolving along Lagrangian trajectories. In the presence of dynamo effect, the correlations between tangent vectors grow exponentially in time; in the absence of dynamo effect they decay as power laws. The above behaviours are intimately related to statistical conservation laws for the Lagrangian dynamic
