This study aims at assessing the impacts of urbanized spaces and land cover change scenarios on contaminant loads generated during rain events in the gulf of Aigues-Mortes catchment and the urban area of Montpellier (France). Firstly, it is shown that continental inputs of fecal indicator bacteria (FIB) to coastal waters increase significantly with the antecedent precipitation index. Within the urban area, FIB and suspended solids (SS) loads are strongly influenced by storm events, even with a small return period.
