The objectives were to estimate the frequency of mental disorders among Spanish university students, their association with role impairment and the use of treatment. Also, to identify risk and protective factors. The thesis is based on the UNIVERSAL project (2,118 first-year university students completed the baseline online survey and 1,253 completed at least 40% of the 12-month follow-up survey). The online measures had an adequate agreement with the MINI-International Neuropsychiatric Interview. The 12-month prevalence of any mental disorder was 35.7%.
