This study investigates whether there is a causality between the price of electricity and the number of employments in the Swedish manufacturing industry. The study also examines whether there is a difference in how the more energy intense sector SKGS responds in the demand for labour, compared to the other manufacturing industry, with respect to a rising price of electricity. The study finds that there exists a causality between the number of workers in the Swedish manufacturing and the price of electricity. The causality is negative, a rise in the price of electricity results in a reduced demand for labour.
