Cilj istraživanja odnosi se na utvrđivanje matematičke anksioznosti kod učenika s lakom intelektualnom ometenošću kao i utvrđivanje razlika između dečaka i devojčica pri ispoljavanju straha od matematike. Uzorkom je obuhvaćeno 34-oro učenika s lakom intelektualnom ometenošću, kalendarskog uzrasta od 15 do 16 godina [15,0-15,5 (22,7%) i 15,6-16,0 (28,8%)], oba pola (27,3% dečaka i 24,2% devojčica), bez neuroloških i višestrukih smetnji. Matematička anksioznost procenjena je Upitnikom anksioznosti za decu (Child Math Anxiety Questionnaire – CMAQ; Ramirez, Gunderson, Levine, & Beilock, 2013).
