Sign languages are recognized in many countries, by the constitution, laws, resolutions, ordinances and decisions of the governments of these countries. Many laws of Republic of Serbia guarantee the right to use sign language to deaf people, but the right to compensation for the services provided by interpreters, is not defined. Ministry of Labor and Social Policy has launched an initiative for normative regulation of this area. Preparation of the Draft Law on Sign Language and sign language standardization are in progress.
