Correspondence Theory assumes that a nearly perfect fit between social organization of schooling and social organization of work is the essential characteristic of the USA education. The analysis of historical change of schooling reveals, however, not so smooth adjustment of the school to the evolution of economic life, but rather a jarring and conflict ridden course of struggle and accommodation. Progressive Education Movement, which marked the second turning point in the US educational history developed to complement a transition from factory system to corporate capitalism.
