FIRST RECORD OF THE PARASITE BAT FLY Basilia mimoni THEODOR & PETERSON, 1964 (DIPTERA: NYCTERIBIIDAE) IN COLOMBIA

The ectoparasites of bats belonging to the family Nycteribiidae (Insecta, Diptera) are highly specialized and little is known about this family in the New World. Only two genera of the family Nycteribiidae are catalogued in Colombia, Basilia, with seven species, and Hershkovitzia, with only one species. This is the first report of Basilia mimoni in Colombia. Two females and one male were collected from the bat Gardnerycteris keenani (Chiroptera, Phyllostomidae). These records broaden the distribution range of this parasite species in Latin America and increase to nine the number of species in the family Nycteribiidae in Colombia.PRIMER REGISTRO DE Basilia mimoni THEODOR PETERSON, 1964 (DIPTERA: NYCTERIBIIDAE) PARA COLOMBIA. Los ectoparásitos de murciélagos pertenecientes a la familia Nycteribiidae (Insecta, Diptera), son altamente especializados y es poco lo que se conoce sobre las especies de esta familia en el Nuevo Mundo. Para Colombia, solo se catalogan dos géneros de la familia Nycteribiidae, Basilia con siete especies y Hershkovitzia con una sola especie. Este trabajo reporta por primera vez la presencia de Basilia mimoni para Colombia. Dos especímenes hembra y un macho fueron colectados del murciélago Gardnerycteris keenani (Chiroptera, Phyllostomidae). Este registro extiende la distribución conocida de esta especie de parásito en Latinoamerica e incrementa a nueve el número de especies de la familia Nycteribiidae para Colombia
