Objective: Roots of Datura metel has been proved by many scientists as potential anti-inflammatory and antioxidant agent, however much work has not been done to evaluate leaves of the plant for these activities. This study was undertaken to evaluate the in vitro anti-inflammatory and antioxidant potential of leaves of Datura metel. Methods: Aqueous and methanolic extracts of the leaves of D.metel were subjected to in vitro screening models such as DPPH free radical scavenging activity, total phenolic content, total antioxidant capacity and total anti-inflammatory activity by HRBC membrane stabilization.
