This collection contains original documents of Erika Bander, née Stühler, and her husband, Harry (Heinz) Bander, dating to their time as refugees in Shanghai, China, 1939-1947, as well as some photocopied photographs and a 1-page genealogical manuscript on Erika's family, including information about the Stühler family, the Nussbaum family, and the Conn family.Erika Bander, née Stühler, was born in 1925 in Hammelburg, Bavaria as the daughther of Arnold and Meta Stühler. She and her mother fled Germany in 1941, reaching Shanghai via the trans-Siberian rail line. Meta Stühler married Oskar Stempel, before emigrating to Palestine in 1947.
