How interview perceptions are formed and evaluative judgments made have traditionally been conceptualized as analogous to a black box . Current research indicates a number of models that attempt to explain the way in which information is processed in an interview situation. Both management and cognitive psychology literatures indicate that an underlying cognitive model influences the way individual\u27s process information into a single evaluative judgment. This paper explores one element of an individual\u27s cognitive process, their degree of differentiation, and the impact it has on the accuracy of the interview decision.
