This new book looks at issues involving race, religion, age, class/status, lifestyle, disabilities, and ethnicities through literature, its goal to create an understanding that goes beyond the classroom and into today’s diverse world. In keeping with other books in the Adolescent Literature as a Complement to the Classics series, this guide assumes that the classics comprise the canon of literature that is mostly taught in our schools, and that most teachers are familiar with adolescent literature, but are unsure of how to use them in their classrooms.
