During the late 1980s through the mid-1990s, academic programs continued to flourish at USF St. Petersburg. Although the campus remained an upper-level commuter school, vibrant academic and student leadership activities defined the town-and-gown relationship with the community that became the norm after the arrival of H.W. Bill Heller. During Dean Heller\u27s tenure, the campus came alive with the popular Campus Lecture Series, a Monday night Lecture Series in the Campus Activities Center, numerous community partnerships, and the construction of a new library building.
