This project engages teacher candidates in learning about an urban school\u27s surrounding community - the social contexts of schooling - through four activities carried out over four weeks. Small working groups, assigned to a Staten Island North Shore zoned, Title One elementary school, are tasked with gathering and analyzing a variety of secondary, primary, and observational data through the cumulative activities and, supported through readings and discussions, individuals are encouraged to connect their findings to the development of a more informed, culturally responsive mindset
