International audienceThe question of how to translate presupposes deeper, philosophical questions on the relations between perception, judgement, expression and representation. Tackling these questions with a view to their relevance for literary translation means looking for answers in different disciplines that take into account its specificity. The practice of translation rests on an implicit theory of language which must be objectified in order for the practice itself to become conscious.
