Welfare programs provide an important and necessary safety net for many low-income individuals and families in America. Despite the important role they play in society, many Americans hold negative views about the programs and their participants. The views that Americans include social workers, hold about welfare programs can impact the sustainability of these programs and the extent to which they are promoted to eligible participants. This is a survey research that examined the attitudes of social work students towards welfare programs and recipients.
