International audienceThis paper endeavours to discuss a few available technologies for musical notation, from a user's point of view, focusing on "distributed notation": musical notation rendered in real time to multiple devices simultaneously. The rapid evolution of browsers and the cheaper cost of heterogeneous (cross-platform) systems inclines us to narrow down the scope to browser-based solutions. The overview recalls a few key concepts of the JavaScript ecosystem, typically addressed to composers with little background in web development.
