This collection consists of a large body of family correspondence sent by Zadig to his family during his time in the military in World War I. The correspondence includes letters, telegrams, and postcards, and has been bound in two custom-made volumes, one for the years 1914-1915, and another for 1916. In the years 1914-1915 the correspondence bears postmarks from several different locations in France, Germany and Poland (Ostpreussen), but in 1916 most of the letters are simply marked Osten, indicating that he was likely stationed on the Eastern Front.Zadig was born in 1895 and died during the war in 1916. There are indications that he was a draftee, rather than a volunteer. It appears from the correspondence that his family lived in Berlin....
