Delivered between 512 and 518, Severus of Antioch's Homiliae cathedrales seem to represent quite an original step in the carreer of this great antichalcedonian theologian, for he may look like giving up logical demonstration, lumping together different heresies and prefering the use of polemical assimilations. His first aim in doing so is to associate his whole audience and the whole city under his pastoral care to his own christological party, and to the condemnations of his Chalcedonian or Euthychian opponents.
