International audienceNumerical simulations of the sediment transport are useful tools for planning, design and management. Sediment erosion results from hydrodynamic forcing, represented by the bottom shear stress, and from the erodability of the sediment, defined by the critical erosion shear stress and the erosion rate. The erodability of natural sediment should be characterised by the spatial and temporal variability. This paper discusses the abilities of numerical models to predict the morphodynamics over loose and rigid beds.
