This paper tries to demonstrate that political speeches and representations during the 2002 French presidential campaign have been reshaped in journalistic discourse. Political representations are re-analyzed both in the light of security-related ideologies in France and according to the ideological orientations of the different newspapers. Examining the ways of representation of the other and the role of political commentary in journalistic discourse will contribute to ascertaining the value of the circulation of statements.
