In this chapter a survey is given of ways in which the output of machine translation can be evaluated. The methodologies presented include quality assessment by human evaluators, automated evaluation techniques, evaluation on the basis of an error analysis and on the basis of post-editing time and they are put to the test on the basis of a sample corpus
