Text on back of photograph: Chaplain (Captain) Emanuel Schenk of New York City, attached to the 4th Armored Division of General Patton's Third Army, has been awarded the Bronze Star Medal for "meritorious service in connection with military operations against the enemy, during 1944-45, in France, Belgium, Luxembourg and Germany." In addition, Chaplain Schenk is entitled to wear the Presidential Unit Citation, awarded for the second time in history to a division.
