The marginal rural territory is a “paradoxical entity”, torn between powerful neighbors and diverse cultural influences, but still possessing a unique personality. As it contains limited endogenous resources, this type of territory depends on nearby or distant urban areas in order for its residents to benefit from diverse and well-paying jobs, as well as for access to various services. Even so, it continues to develop an individual identity as a separate entity. Due to its shortcomings, the marginal rural territory is dependent on external provisions.
