International audienceThe rupture between Turkey and the Arab world has been the most obvious during the Cold War. The AKP government, in power since 2002, has pursued in the Arab world an active policy of economic openness, political mediation and soft power. Especially after 2007, in 2009-2010, the policy of "zero problems with neighbors" is deployed toward Iraq, but especially Syria. The "Arab Springs" brutally questioned this policy, and strongly reduced the ability of regional influence of Turkey.
