Atlanta Conference on Science and Innovation Policy 2011This study models personal professional networks of academic scientists as comprised of multiplex relationships. It argues that relational multiplexity affects intensity of the knowledge exchange and resource flow. The study finds variation of relational structures of scientist s networks across ranks and demographic groups such as age, gender and citizenship.National Science Foundation Grant #REC-052964
