The traditional interpretation of the disappearance of Nazca is understood to have taken place during the Middle Horizon, specifically through the expansion of the Hauri/Tiahuanaco Culture. Nevertheless, the material culture recovered from archaeological excavation and prospection gainsays this assumption. In effect, the Nazca area maintained its population during the Middle Horizon and Late Intermediate Period. Yet there was a gradual re-adaptation by Nazca to changing ideologies.
